How a Round is Played

Teen Patti is played with a standard 52-card deck. Usually 3 to 6 players sit at a table. Each round begins with the boot or ante — everyone is required to place a set amount into the pot. The dealer then deals three cards face-down to each player.

After receiving cards, players choose one of two paths: Seen (Chalo) — betting after looking at your own cards, or Blind — betting without looking at your cards. A Blind player bets a smaller amount but takes on more risk.

Betting moves clockwise one by one. On each turn a player either places a bet or Packs — meaning they fold from that round. The last player remaining, or the one who shows the best hand, wins the entire pot.

Two Seen players can directly show their cards to each other — this is called a Show. A Show costs a smaller bet and settles the round with relatively low stakes.

Hand Rankings — Which Hand is the Strongest

In Teen Patti, hands are formed from a combination of three cards. The list below is arranged from strongest to weakest.

Rank Hand Name Description
1 Trail / Set (Trail) Three cards of the same value. A-A-A is the highest, 2-2-2 is the lowest.
2 Pure Sequence (Pure Run) Three consecutive cards of the same suit. For example: ♠A-♠K-♠Q.
3 Sequence / Run (Run) Three consecutive cards of different suits. For example: ♠5-♥6-♣7.
4 Color (Flush) Any three cards of the same suit, but not consecutive.
5 Pair Any two cards of the same value. A-A-K is the highest Pair.
6 High Card None of the above combinations — the highest card is compared.

When two hands of the same type are tied, the tie is broken first by the high card, then by suit. For a Pair, the value of the pair is compared first, then the kicker card.

Against the Dealer or Against Other Players

Classic Teen Patti — Against Players

In traditional Teen Patti, everyone plays against each other. There is no house dealer — the dealer role rotates. All the money in the pot goes to the winning player. At jeetway this format is available at live tables where a real dealer deals the cards.

Teen Patti Go / Dealer Version

In some online variants the player plays only against the dealer's hand. You do not need to think about other players' strategies — only your hand and the dealer's hand are compared. This format is much simpler for beginners.

Useful Tips for Beginners

Start Blind

Begin by betting a small amount without looking at your cards. Less money goes into the pot and you gain experience.

Pack on a Weak Hand

If you have a High Card or a weak Pair, folding quickly is the smart move. It reduces losses over the long run.

Keep to Your Budget

Decide how much you will spend in each session before you start. Do not go beyond that limit.

Watch Others

If possible, just watch for a few rounds — notice who packs and when, and who places a large bet and when.

Table Etiquette and Session Management

What to Do and Not Do at the Table

  • Make your decision before your turn — not keeping others waiting is good manners.
  • If Seen, look at your cards carefully and do not show them to other players.
  • After packing, refrain from commenting on the ongoing bets.
  • Do not try to see another player's cards or give hints.
  • Placing a large bet out of anger after a loss — this usually leads to even greater losses.

Tips for a Healthy Session

Before starting a session, decide how much time and money you will spend. Take a break once you reach the set limit.

Stay cautious during a winning streak — it can be tempting to take more risk at that moment. Set aside a portion of your winnings and play with the rest.

Common Questions About Teen Patti

A Trail (or Set) means three cards of the same value — for example three Aces or three Kings. A Pure Sequence means three consecutive cards of the same suit — for example 5-6-7 of Hearts. In the rankings, a Trail always beats a Pure Sequence.

Playing Blind requires a smaller bet, but making decisions without seeing your cards is harder. Playing Seen lets you see your cards, but you must bet double. Experienced players usually stay Blind for a few rounds to read the situation, then switch to Seen.

Yes, in Muflis the hand rankings are completely reversed. The hand that is the weakest in a regular game — such as a low High Card — becomes the best hand in Muflis. Strategy is different in this variant because even if you have strong cards, placing a large bet is not advisable.

A Show can only be called when exactly two Seen players remain. To call a Show, you must pay double the current stake (if you are Blind) or equal to the current stake (if you are Seen). Both players reveal their cards and the best hand wins.

Yes, Teen Patti can be played on mobile through jeetway's Android and iOS apps. Both apps are available through official channels. You can also play directly from a mobile browser.

Luck plays a role in Teen Patti, but some strategies are useful. Read other players' betting patterns to gauge their hands. Pack quickly with a weak hand. Set your bets according to the size of the pot. And never place a large bet on emotion.
